Painting Warm-Up Post
1. From these multiple activities that we did in the warm-ups, I learned about the different styles and basics of painting, which would help me out in the long run when it came around the time t do my project for this unit.
2. For my painting project, I think the most helpful warm-up will be the warm-up where we had to paint the textures of fabric, rocks, and fur. This will help me add detail to my painting overall.
3. I learned the most from the color wheel warm-up. This was successful for me, because it allowed me to see the different ways we could mix colors to create others colors.
4. There are 3 ways to make the color brown. One way you could do this, is to mix red and green together. Another way to do this, is to mix yellow and purple together. The las way is to mix blue and orange together.
5. In order to tone down a primary color, you have to add a grey color to the hue that you started off with. When the grey and hue mix together, that becomes the tone.

Painting Project Post
DESCRIBE
- The piece that I painted, is supposed to represent my neighborhood pool that I learnt to swim in for the first time. Ever since I learned how to swim I have enjoyed it so much. In the background, there are the houses of the neighborhood. If I were to explain this over the phone to someone, I would describe it as a tranquil neighborhood pool, with white houses peeking over the trees and bushes in the back.
- For the value in my piece, I attempted to shade the side of the second house from the left to give it a little bit of a three dimensional effect.
- While I was painting my piece, I had to look at proportions. I wanted the focusing piece to be the pool, so I created that in a way that it would be an equal size compared to the reference image, but a little larger on the canvas. Using the same scale, I determined what the size of the houses in the background would be.
- The idea behind my piece is to show the friendliness of the neighborhood and how nice the pool is. I attempted to convey this through my painting by creating an environment that seemed warm and peaceful.
- What I find most successful about my piece overall, is the bushes and trees. I put some time into that part of the painting and I tried to add different colors related to green, to show how trees and bushes can have different colored leaves within them.
- From this assignment, I learned how there are many ways to make a painting look realistic and there are little to no limits when trying to make a piece based on a real life location.
